Curling shampoos don't work, for me at least. My hair is difficult to curl and it never holds it no matter how much or how little spray I use. And the commercial for the curling shampoo is deceiving. They show a young woman with straight hair and then she decideds she wants it curly. But what they don't show you is that it's not the shampoo that curls your hair...it's the curlers.

I absolutely love Garnier Fructis shampoos and conditioners! Try the Sleek and Shine line. They also make a anti-frizz serum that smells wonderful and works wonders! The other line I would suggest is the Curl and Shine line. My daughter has curly hair and this stuff really works. I also pair it with the hair serum. Not bad for a lower cost solution! Check out the website to see if they have something else that might work for you. These products are the ones that I am familiar with myself. I don't know about a shampoo but a girl friend of mine in high school said that all she had to do was plow dry it. I would assume that she put some kind of gel on it first. What I would do is buy some of that curling shampoo for white hair, no conditioner and frizz free hair gel, blow dry and see what happens. All the fun of having hair is experimenting. The only thing that makes us evolved from the animals is our ability to accessorie.
once the curl is gone with a chemical perm, then you may not get the curl back.. but usually if you let the hair air dry some of it will come back, and then just use a leave in moisterizer to keep it soft..
I agree with the chemical perm..it lasts for a long time ..i just don't know the name of the products.

I have thick, naturally curly/wavy hair, but lately it's been getting really frizzy and the curls aren't really defined (especially on the top layer), so I wanted to get a curl defining shampoo that reduces frizz. Does Bed Head ';Foxy Curls'; work for anyone who's tried it? If not, what about any other products? Thanks.

Your best bet will be the bed head. Herbal Essence is nothing compared to bed head. Bed head my cost more but it's alot more concentrated so you use less, and it will last soooo much longer then the herbal essence. Plus some hair products that are not suggested by professionals such as: herbal essence, pantene pro-v, etc, have wax in them and will put actual wax in your hair, so the smell will stay with you. This is very damaging and you would have to get a malibu treatment to get it out. I know it sounds crazy but before I got into my profession I used those products and when I went to school my teacher actually scraped wax out of my hair, it was crazy.

If you HAVE to comb it, try your fingers or a REALLY wide tooth comb. I comb out my bangs, though. I spray **Sunsilk waves of envy ocean mist** throughought my hair, and scrunch it. It gives my hair body and amazing waves, without making it crunchy or dirty. Then i just let it airdry. If you sprayed too much and your hair is a liitle tough, blowdry on cool for a little, it softens them.

Pantene hydrating curls or tressemme flawless curls. Both smell great and you'll see results right away. Also very cheap and good quality. I would highly suggest them. My hair can be very frizzy and these work for me.

I have wavy hair and if I want to make it curly, what I do is get a shampoo (any brand) that does not say moisturizing or smoothing or anything like that, and I wash my hair with it and detangle it in the shower with a wide tooth comb. Do not use conditioner, it will weigh your hair down.
I just let it dry naturally, without even brushing it or touching it, and I have curls not waves!

While your hair is still damp, bend your head over so you're drying your hair upside down. Dry your hair with the blow dryer while using your hands to scrunch it. Once your hair is dry, throw your head back and immediately spray with silvikrin Flexible Hairspray .
if your hair is straight then no...just curlers , curling irons. but if your hair is curly and you want to define the curl and bring it out more than it needs moisture products that give your hair bounce and shine and that activate the curl. if its humid out your hair will go curly because of the moisture. but if you have fine straight hair use a light weight shampoo and no conditioner and curl your hair when dry and spray the heck outta it....good luck

I have wavy hair, and i was wondering if I washed it with, say, Herbal Essences Totally Twisted shampoo (for curly hair) and used the conditioner that goes with it, would it make my hair a little curlier than usual or just leave it the same? and what if i wash it with shampoo for straight hair, like the Dangerously Straight one from Herbal Essences, would it make it straighter than usual? No, shampoos for curly hair are formulated to enhance curls and usually control frizz. If your hair isn't curly it won't make it curly. If your hair isn'tstraight the shampoo won't make it straight. It will only make whatever type of hair your have easier to manage depending on the typical prolems for that typer of hair. There is nothing really other than braiding or twisting your hair that would make it curly. You could get an actual perm and that would give your hair a semi permenant curl to it. ialso tried the purple herbal essences for curly hair and i didnt think it curlied my hair at all but it sure smells good:) but i found out on ayoutube vid that if you put your hair into a bun and sleep with it over night it make your hair a little curlier..i tried it and it acturally works.but sometimes theres curls that are kinda ugly but at least you dont have to use any heat.i'll send you the youtube vid:)
it just helps you maintain your curly hair. and dangerously straight does not work. i've tried it and it just left my hair soft and it smelt nice but didnt make it straighter.
the best way to get even more curlier hair would be just to french braid. it really does work. better then normal braid. just leave it overnight.

Only thing I can advise you to do (unless you already know) is to NEVER apply conditioner on all of your hair, but only in the tips. Always rince well, shampoo and conditioner that is. Your hair is clean if it squeaks. ;)

I mix an organic shampoo for naturally curly hair with pantene. I do it because ';normal'; shampoos have too much protein for my hair so it gets brittle. A 1/2 and 1/2 dilution is good for me. I would try different curl shampoos, don't just use one all the time. It's good to switch around and have variety.
I don't know what's best, I think Pantene is pretty good, but in my experience all ringlets turn into looser curls or waves at waist length and they never come back. Maybe there's a product that prevents this, but I haven't heard of it.

You should take vitamins (such as prenatals that you can find at Walmart) to make your hair grow faster. If you want something cheaper from a drug store or grocery...Dove is great. At a salon Bed Head for curls is wonderful. Always Always use conditioner. Only wash your hair everyother day. Everyday makes hair even drier. Bed Head Curls Rock is a great cream for curls.
Hair grows about a 1/2 inch a month on average. You should get a trim (only 1/4';) every 3-4 months.

What curling shampoo works?
Hi, i have strait hair but i want wavy hair. I use garnier fruitis curl and shine system conditioner. It works a little. Should I buy the shampoo for it too, or should i buy a different brand. Also, is their a way i can curl my hair without any iron, beads, brade, etc.What curling shampoo works?
if you hair is really really straight i would be a little hard to get it to curl up. You should try the shampoo for garnier.

Bring out curls
Dosn't have any harmful chemicals
Won't be bad for long hair
Won't be bad for blonde hair
I can get at my local Walmart
Makes wavy hair more curly

Really, to be honest, every shampoo that you will find at wall mart, will have damaging chemicals. Try cleansing your hair with just conditioner. Put some on your fingertips, and massage your scalp. In a couple of weeks, your curls will be more defined, and I promise, your hair will still get clean.
I have a good conditioner, it is under 5 dollars, but you have to get it at Sally Beauty Supply. It is called Proclaim Olive Glossing Conditioner.
I LOVE the smell and results from products called ';Noodle Head';; they have a creme that squirts out of the bottle for styling, that smells YUMMY!!---it's something that to my towel-dried hair, I squirt a little in the palm of my hand---rub my hands together to distribute it all over my fingers and palm, and dab my hair all over upside down. The I comb it loosely, and toss my head to let it fall nicely---and I'm DONE!
well i have long curly, brown hair, and the shampoo that i use is made just for curly hair. Tresseme. it costs like 4 dollars for the shampoo. same thing for the conditioner. it doesn't have harsh chemicals and isnt treated on animals, another plus. hope it works.

i really like aussie catch the wave. it smells really good-like grapes. it also really helps define curls and keep them from getting really frizzy. :)
